Scarn Kill Strategy – Darkening Deeps

Posted in Expert Darkening Deeps, Guides, Rift Guides with tags , , , , on November 9, 2011 by troublmaker

Scarn is the final boss of Darkening Deeps and only available in expert difficulty. Scarn is post nerf one of the easiest bosses in the dungeon and is mostly hard if you are attempting achievements.

Abilities

Double Lash: Cleave attack from behind.

Flaming Breath: Forward cone shaped fire damage breath.

Fireball: Shoots a fireball at a targeted zone.

Strategy

Because of Scarn’s tail-whip and cone shaped breath Scarn should be tanked perpendicular to the party. All party members should also know to never be on the dragons tail or in front of him to avoid cleave damage.

The party should spread out around the room evenly. While on the ground the boss stays a tank and spank. He will throw up a pulsing fire damage aura that will stack.

In the air phase Scarn will shoot fireballs at the ground and set that ground on fire. You can avoid them very easily and can tell where he is going to hit by the direction he turns his head. This will allow you to take no damage at all.

After he lands he will become a spank and tank again.

Rinse and repeat this until his health hits 0%

Gedlo Conclave Kill Strategy – Darkening Deeps

Posted in Expert Darkening Deeps, Guides, Rift Guides with tags , , , , on November 5, 2011 by troublmaker

The Gedlo Conclave is the fifth boss in Darkening Deeps. The Gedlos are in their chamber channeling the second coming of the destroyer. Up until this point all of the minions you have fought have been to slow you down and have been summoned or hired by the Gedlos to protect them. This does not mean the Gedlos are by any means weak. In normal Gedlo Conclave is the end of the dungeon and you have presumably stopped them from summoning. In expert there is one more boss after Gedlos.

The Gedlo Conclave is a fight with multiple variations. Every time a Gedlo dies he gives a passive defensive bonus to his kin and grants them new abilities. This guide will be organized in terms of the possible organizations you may have for a kill order.

Stage 1 – The Three

High Shaman Nuggo: Places Unholy Regeneration on the target, this will heal over time and can be dispelled. Casts Gedlo shield which will absorb damage.

Warlord Swedge: Cleave

Incinerator Gerbrik: Casts fireball and arc of flame (cleave fire)

Stage 2 – Configuration #1: Nuggo Killed

Warlord Swedge: Gains the blitz ability. This will charge and stun a random party member. Gains magic resistance.

Incinerator Gerbrik: Gains crimson pyre which will plant a fiery circles of damage on the ground. Gains magic resistance.

How to deal: Have healer stack in melee so they do not get charged.

Stage 3 – Configuration #1: Gerbrik Killed

Warlord Swedge: Gains a low HP heal. Gains physical damage reduction.

Stage 3 – Configuration #2: Swedge Killed

Incinerator Gerbrik: Gains charge. Gains second magical resistance.

How to deal: Must be constantly kited around the room.

This is a work in progress, more to come.

Glubmuk Kill Strategy – Expert Darkening Deeps

Posted in Expert Darkening Deeps, Guides, Rift Guides with tags , , , , , on November 5, 2011 by troublmaker

Glubmuk is the fourth boss of Darkening Deeps and is only available in Expert difficulty.

Abilities

Spawn Water Elemental: This will cause a water elemental ad to form. While it is forming anyone standing in the vicinity will take pulsing damage.

Poison Bolt: Damage over time effect on tank

Strategy

This boss is heavily tank and spank with a kick. Players will have to avoid pulsing white geysers as they form. The tank will have to be aware of where they are forming so they can quickly pick up the freshly spawned ad.

If the tank and healer of the group is well geared you may not need to kill the ads. Otherwise you just kill the water ad and continue to kill the boss.

Tegenar Deepfang Kill Strategy – Expert Darkening Deeps

Posted in Expert Darkening Deeps, Guides, Rift Guides with tags , , , on November 5, 2011 by troublmaker

Tegenar Deepfang is the third boss of Darkening Deeps. Yes, he’s a giant spider.

Abilities

Cocoon: Targets and webs a player in webs. The webs are damageable. While cocooned a player cannot act.

Summon Spiders: Summons a larger cluster of skittering spiders

Poisonous Spray: Frontal cone spray deals heavy damage.

Strategy

To avoid the poison spray everyone should be behind the boss. Everyone can and should stack directly on his backside. This way when he selects a target (randomly) to cocoon you can destroy that cocoon fast. Cocoons should always have priority and should be broken out immediately by the group. Other than that the boss remains tank and spank.

Michael Bringhurst Kill Strategy – Expert Darkening Deeps

Posted in Expert Darkening Deeps, Guides, Rift Guides with tags , , , on November 5, 2011 by troublmaker

Michael Bringhurst is the second boss of Darkening Deeps. He is activated by talking to a prisoner who is begging to be released. The other prisoners will try and dissuad you from releasing him because of being bit. He quickly transforms into a werewolf and thus starting the fight.

Abilities

Piercing Howl: Casted area of effect non-avoidable damage spell. Casted sporadically

Beastial Roar: Fears all enemies except the tank in place for 7 seconds every 33%. After it wears off it deals massive area of effect damage.

Lunar Madness: As long as Michael is in moonlight he will grow stronger.

Strategy

In the middle of the room is a beam of moon light. As long as he is in this beam he will grow stronger and stronger. A person should always move the boss out of this light. The best place is to move it backwards so that your raid will never have to move.

The boss will cast Fear and run to the middle of the room where he will gain strength from the moonlight. It is the tanks responsibility to use melee attacks to knock the boss out

So as you can see don’t have him standing in the red circle too long or else bad stuff will happen.

The damage is this fight can be pretty brutal so if your healer seems a bit weak make sure to have a support.
